The Elliot Lake Bobcats Junior A hockey team are coming off their first season in franchise history. The Bobcats had a successful season in their first year of the Greater Metro Jr. 'A' Hockey League. In our first season our Bobcats played 70 Jr 'A' games total and supported a record of 43 wins 21 losses and 6 O.T.'s. As an expansion team the Bobcats made it through the first three best of seven series, but lost to the 'powerhouse' Bradford Rattlers in the semi-finals.The Bobcats had great support all season in their community of 12,500 with crowds averaging around 500 most nights and at the start and play offs closer to 700. The Bobcats were a new Junior A program in Northern Ontario put together to promote hard work and development in young athletes. We have a well experienced and eager staff, to ensure the quality of training and skill development these young elite want and need. The program is designed to help take these players to the next level. Our team will be playing out of the Elliot Lake Centennial arena which holds 1000 specators. In our first season we are able to send 7 kids off to N.C.A.A Div 3 schools if the players decide to take that route at this time. We had a total of 14 schools over the course of the year interested in our players also some D1 for a few. We were a young team this year with only 3 players graduating Juniors A. We expect next year we will need to fill about 14 spots as the players that go play college hockey or some  will play in the N.A.H.L or just move on and concentrate on their post secondary education.

This means we as an organization, are committed to you as you and your family are committed to us.

In our first year as an organization we accomplished a lot more then we did expect as we had the honour of having our Head Coach named Coach of the year as well as Andrew Quinn of the Bobcats named Most Sportsmanlike Player of the year by all the leagues G.M's. We also had  an opportunity to send 7 players to schools such as, UMASS at Boston, Becker College,Wentworth College, Wisconsin Eau Claire, also Northland and many more Including the power house Acadia Axemen of the C.I.S . and a sniff from Ohio State for Mitch Kriz

We as an organization are excited about Hockey in Elliot Lake. Elliot Lake has been known to be a hockey town for many years they have always had loyal fans, loyal sponsorship and a great arena. The city of Elliot Lake has a population of 12,500 and is approximately 2 hours east of the Sault Ste. Marie / Michigan Border.

We strive to put the best product on the ice and develop young athletes while at the same time offering our local talent a place to play. We will be a team with many different backgrounds. We welcome American, European and Canadian players equally. Our objective is to develop these young men into athletes and have them ready to move on to the next level.
